The regatta was held by Club de Regatas San Nicolas, at San Nicolas, 260km North from Buenos Aires, on the Parana River.

Every year this regatta is part of the National Ranking that includes 6 major regattas of two days, with 6 races each one, this was the 2nd of the year.

On Saturday wind started with a 15knots South, that grew up to more than 20knots in the afternoon.

We had two W-L races followed by a 2 triangles race.

My “best of the day” was when on race 2 rounding the last leeward mark with a 200m lead, jybing on the mark got my head caught from the back with the pole line, with a lace all around my head, so it caught me and took me to dive to the water to leeward leaving Diego alone on the boat. With not few effort I got up just with one boat lenght ahead from the second and we were able to win the race.

Several boats capsized and the shalowness of the river ( only 2m) caused a few mast bends or broken, so it was tough day for everyone, specially for those of us who are “almost masters”.

As allways, on Saturday night we had our class meeting and later a barbecue with drinks and lot´s of good moments.

On Sunday, the wind was lighter and shifty, causing the first race to be cancelled when Brenda Quagliotti was a few meters away from the triumph after a magnificent race where everything happened but she kept the lead always.

After this, we waited and we had two races with a 8 to 10 knots South wind, shifting to the left very often.

The race officer Ariel Villalba and everybody at the club were just great, as every year

We had at the club a price giving award, with burgers and beers and we are already waiting for our next meeting on Santa Fe on August 2.
Saludos

Luis Soubie
