Hello Snipe family.

It’s such a pleasure to contact you for the first time on this platform!

The new unified SCIRA & SnipeToday website is up and running and it looks just fantastic.

In every meeting of the Board I can remember, we exchanged points of views about how to encourage and promote Snipe sailing. Is not an easy task with the many available choices sailors have today, but we always agreed on two things: First, communication and social media is central, and second, we have a great boat and fantastic racing. And most sailors who sail awhile in the Snipe never leave the class—if they do, they come back sooner or later.

During these many conversations we agreed that we need a strong social media platform, and after discussing how to have one, we realized that we already had the best one we might dream in SnipeToday (ST).

It was not an easy task to unite SCIRA & ST and it required that ST editors agree to join us, losing some of their independence. But Pietro and Carol love the Snipe class and they realized this was good for both the Class and also for ST. So today we now have one official Snipe Class site that publishes all documents and news related to Snipe sailing.

We know that much remains to be done, especially with regard to the database of boats and sailors. The first step some years ago was being able to pay dues online and today is a reality and now we add this great website that we hope you enjoy. In time, we’ll fix the rest of the things that are not working quite the way we all want.

This platform that you are accessing today, where you have all the rules, the events, and the news from the Snipe Class, is the fruit of a lot of work by many people. I want to thank: SnipeToday editors Pietro Fantoni and Carol Cronin, and also the guys who designed the website: Elvio Carini, Urus Grilanc and Andrej Mocilnik.

From the SCIRA side Don Bedford, Reino Suonsilta, Alex Pline and our dear Jerelyn Biehl for their hard work all these months.
