Midwinters – Day 2
Clearwater, March 16, 2015. Results after 7 races (1 discard) After two chamber of commerce days of racing, Ernesto Rodriguez and Eduardo Mintzias of Miami are holding a 5 point lead in the 77th SCIRA Snipe Midwinter Championship held out of the Clearwater Yacht Club and Clearwater Community Sailing Center. Tied for second are the Argentine team of Luis Soubie & Diego Lipszyc and Miami’s Augie Diaz & Kathleen Tocke. Augie is also the defending champion of the Snipe Midwinter Championship.

After two chamber of commerce days of racing, Ernesto Rodriguez and Eduardo Mintzias of Miami are holding a 5 point lead in the 77th SCIRA Snipe Midwinter Championship held out of the Clearwater Yacht Club and Clearwater Community Sailing Center. Tied for second are the Argentine team of Luis Soubie & Diego Lipszyc and Miami’s Augie Diaz & Kathleen Tocke. Augie is also the defending champion of the Snipe Midwinter Championship.
The series, which has been sailed out of Clearwater for the past 77 years, will culminate with 2 races tomorrow. Rounding out the top 5 are Evert McLaughlin & Alexandra Damley-Strnad of Canada with 28 points and Peter Commette & Lara Dallman-Weiss of Ft. Lauderdale with 31 points.
After sailing, the fleet enjoyed the traditional grapefruit party on the patio at Clearwater Yacht Club. Since tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, the Bow Chasers serving them were dressed appropriately. The Snipe Midwinters is the first stop on the 2015 Snipe Winter Circuit. Sailors will head to Miami next for the Don Q Rum Keg Regatta and then on to Nassau for the Dudley/Gamblin Trophies.
