The Atlantic Coast Championship was held in Surf City, New Jersey June 11th-12th. By Friday night, all of the sailors had arrived to Lee Griffith's house for a great cook out. Everyone had claimed their bed in Lee's house as we do every year. On Saturday the breeze was from the south at 10-12 knots. The air temperature was warm but the water was cold so spray gear was necessary. The breeze consistently built throughout the day to 20 knots with gusts up to 23 knots. We sailed three races this day with all courses being triangles. After an exhausting day of racing, everyone headed back to Lee's house for the famous pork loin dinner, which was amazing. ...

By Megan Place. The Atlantic Coast Championship was held in Surf City, New Jersey June 11th-12th. By Friday night, all of the sailors had arrived to Lee Griffith’s house for a great cook out. Everyone had claimed their bed in Lee’s house as we do every year.

On Saturday the breeze was from the south at 10-12 knots. The air temperature was warm but the water was cold so spray gear was necessary. The breeze consistently built throughout the day to 20 knots with gusts up to 23 knots. We sailed three races this day with all courses being triangles. After an exhausting day of racing, everyone headed back to Lee’s house for the famous pork loin dinner, which was amazing.

… On Sunday, the breeze was already up to 19 knots out of the southwest at 9:30am for the harbor start. After we raced one triangle course with gust up to 30 knots, the race committee sent us in. We had 11 boats registered for the regatta including a boat from California but with the windy conditions we faced, only 8 boats competed.

A big thanks to the Surf City Yacht Club for running some great races as well as Lee and Karla Griffith for their great hospitality!!
