St. Petersburg, January 12-13, 2013. Results and regatta report by Steve Lang

The GASPAR has sometimes been sailed in cold winter weather, but not this year.  Temperatures were like summer, and the winds were light, and the competition was tough.  Even though the RC struggled to get in a regatta with only one race completed and another abandoned, the sailors enjoyed the food and St. Petersburg social activities.  The Traveling Snipe Fleet provided boats to a number of college sailors and new Snipers.

The proportion of women and young sailors continues to grow in the Florida area.  There were 5 women skippers, and 4 all female crews.  Veterans Peter Commette and Bruno Mello showed the best light air speed, but racing was close with lots of position changes in the fleet on every leg.
