Alejandro Fresneda, the athletic and passionate Snipe sailor from Spain

– 1) Your first time on a sailing boat?

My first time was on a Optimist, thirty four years ago.

– 2) Your first time on a Snipe?

My first time on a Snipe was twenty eight years ago in a Club race.

– 3) The most bizarre thing that happened in a regatta?

With my big friend and teacher Oliver Gongora, a shroud broke and we lost the National regatta. We had four first positions.

 – 4) What is the thing that most angers you in a race/regatta?

At the Europeans in Oporto 98, we (Oliver Gongora and me) lost the Championship by 0.25 points, because my friend Enrico Soleiro passed us in the arrival and we lost the European Championship. Last year Damian and I lost the Master World Championship and we don’t know still how.

– 5) Which is the race/regatta that you remember with the most pleasure?

My first Nationals that I won in Bilbao 94. All the first positions.

– 6) And the race/regatta you would like to forget?

World Championship in San Diego. My brother and me sorted out two boats with Damian and Javi Magro and we got an old boat, meanwhile they got a new one.

– 7) Your “dream in the peak”? (Your sailing dream?)

My dream will be win any race with my son. Now my son is 5 years old, jejejejeje ……

– 8) Sailing goals for 2013, and beyond?

World Championship in Rio. I would like to get the World Championship with my friend Damian in a future.

– 9) The most important people for you in sailing and in the Snipe?

I have three people. Chronologically, the first Oliver Gongora (my first teacher) and the last Damian Borras (he gave me an a new illusion), but always my big friend Cesar Travado (for me is the most known person in the Snipe in the world).

– 10) Why the Snipe?

“Serious sailing and serious fun” it is all said. Marvellous people.

– 11) Your perfect sailing venue and your perfect sailing conditions?

Mediterranean sea and twelve Knots.

– 12) Besides sailing which other sport do you practice?

My wife is my personal trainer and my first supporter . She has a degree in Physical Education, so, imagine you? …I do the circuit training, spinning, running, etc ……

– 13) Are you superstitious?

No.

– 14) Your perfect holiday?

With my family, but If I bring my snipe, jajajajaja … Do you imagine? …
