Ledro, Italy, August 1-2, 2020
by Andrea Piazza
Ledro regatta (Augusy 1sy anf 2 nd) was supposed to be Italian master championship but the captains decided to postpone it until next year. This year the Ledro regatta will count as evidence of the zonal championship and (perhaps the only one) of the prestigious Franz Joseph Cup. They have already ensured their presence, in addition to local crews coordinated by the zonal delegate Silvano Zuanelli, Pino Borghese and Peppe d’Orazio of the Arputine fleet, the past commodore Pietro Fantoni, the National Secretary Daniela Semec in / with Rochelli, Ezio Prataviera from Austria and Nikola Deskovic from Croatia. It is still umcertain the participation of the vice-commodore Zbi Rakocy and the legendary captains of central Italy Alberto Perdisa and Andrea Pesci. Unfortunately, the dinner will not be held in the club due to Covid restrictions and, due to the increase in organisationi costs, always due to Covid, we will not be able to offer it as usual to the families and friends of the sailors. Also due to the virus we had to increase the registration fee to 65 euros but the registration fee will include Saturday dinner, lunch pakets, Melinda apples and Teroldego Zanini wine.
Captain Cigalotti also organized a visit on Sunday at dawn (mandatory for Franz Joseph participants) to the Garibaldi museum in Bezzecca where Giuseppe Garibaldi on 9 August 1866 wrote the famous telegram to the supreme command “Obbedisco” in response to the order to stop the advanced towards the Austrians.
Given the wind “peculiarity” of Ledro Lake, we invite the master crews to participate in order to acquire a minimum of experience before the Italian championship next year.
Thanks to the work of the AVLL members directed by Camilla Baruzzi, you can participate safely.
