Progress on 1947 Snipe #6715 “Tiger” restoration.

The white color on hull and deck is alkyd oil-based paint primer (spray-applied). The hull color will be a dark yellow-orange color to simulate the appearance of varnished wood, the deck will be painted with cream color paint, with a 2 inch strip of the matching hull color painted along the deck edges. All trim will be varnished.

Restoration was started with structural repairs in 2004-2005 but further work had been delayed for several years until a professional wooden boatbuilder/restorer was retained in 2012 to help progress by installing the new plywood decking, interior painting, trim installation and finishing, and hull and deck epoxy fairing and epoxy-fiberglass sheathing (4 oz cloth).

Newer rigging, sails and equipment will be used to bring the boat up to current standards for racing. It will be ready to sail again in 2014, first time since last used in 1977.
