14 Questions to … JJ and Tracy Hall

Editor's Note: When I first met JJ and Tracy Hall at the 2012 North Americans, they were looking for a new sailing challenge. They bought a boat in 2014 and have climbed the learning curve quickly, learning the quirks of tuning and trim. They recently completed their first winter circuit events in Clearwater and Miami, with all the usual logistics further complicated by arranging childcare for their two boys. (Note their answer to "the perfect holiday"...) According to JJ, all answers are the same for both of them, except as noted. - 1) Your first time in a sailing boat? Tied a race in a dead heat…”dead nuts” was the call from the finish boat

 

– 4) What is the thing that angers you most in a race/regatta?

Competitors who blatantly disregard the rules, sportsmanship in particular

– 5) Which is the race/regatta you remember with the most pleasure?

Albacore North Americans at Buffalo Canoe Club in 2012, leading going into the final day/race

– 6) And the race/regatta you would like to forget?

– 7) Your “dream in the peak” (your sailing dream)?

Represent Canada in the Pan Am Games in the Snipe

– 8) Sailing goals for 2015, and beyond?

Looking forward to crewing for my wife and then eventually for my sons

– 9) The most important people for you in sailing, and in the Snipe?

JJ: My wife Tracy for putting up with me as a skipper. Both: Carol Cronin for answering all of our beginner questions and ultimately being the catalyst to get us into the class.

International fleet, welcoming, top competition and excellent regattas and venues

– 11) Your perfect sailing venue and your perfect conditions?

Anytime, any day, anywhere…

– 12) Besides sailing, what other sports do you practice?

Skiing, running, biking, swimming

– 13) Are you superstitious?

No.

14) Your perfect holiday?

Racing small boats with my wife/husband while the kids are being looked after.
