North American Championship Starts Today in Newport

Newport, RI, August 28, 2026. The Snipe North American Championship kicks off today in Newport, Rhode Island, hosted by Sail Newport. A competitive fleet of 55 teams is ready to cross the starting line.
The entry list features a strong lineup, including key contenders such as Justin Callahan & Trevor Davis, Augie Diaz & Ciara Rodriguez, Ernesto Rodriguez & Taylor Scheuermann, Arthur Blodgett & Grace Howie, and Caro Cronin & Kim Couranz. Other notable entries include Peter Foley & Matheo Capasso, Evan Hoffmann & Marina Cano, Bradley Adam & Raam Fox, Carter Cameron & Chris Schon, Doug Hart & Malia Wilke, Andrew Pimental & Cate Anderson, Jim Bowers & Julia Marsch, and Diego Escobar & Charlie Bess. International entries feature Peruvian ILCA Olympic medalist Stefano Peschiera sailing with Kathleen Tocke, alongside Japan’s Shinichi Uchida with Daisuke Matsuyama.
Seven races are scheduled for the series, with a discard coming into effect after the sixth race. The first warning signal is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Friday, August 28.
