Arco, Italy, April 1, 2026. In a move that has sent shockwaves from the drafting tables of Milton Keynes to the mahogany bars of sailing clubs worldwide, Red Bull has officially announced its entry into the Snipe Class.

Partnering with SCIRA Austria and the legendary Salzburg Snipe Fleet—under the meticulous guidance of Herr Pratavieren—the energy drink giant will host a high-octane invitational event in Arco, Lake Garda, from May 29th to 31st.

“Red Bull wants to invest in every sport,” stated Helmut Marko. “Even traditional boats like the Snipe can adopt thrilling formulas. Our message is clear: sailing isn’t just about dinners where you watch a pig roast on a spit all morning. We want adrenaline. We want the Snipe to truly have wings.”

The reference to the German Open seems explicit (given the same chosen dates), and war has been declared on the roast pork and Marzemino wine that are the specialties of the Velica Trentina.

Forget everything you know about “Serious Fun.” This is “Serious G-Force.”

F1 Engineering for the Snipe

The event features a brand-new fleet of 50 Snipes, currently being manufactured at the Red Bull Racing factory in Milton Keynes, UK. For the first time, the humble Snipe will benefit from carbon-fiber infusions and aerodynamic testing usually reserved for championship-winning F1 cars. Naturally, every hull and sail will sport the iconic matte navy and yellow Red Bull livery.

The Red Bull F1 Team Principal and CEO Laurent Mekies stated: ‘We have no interest in being non-compliant with the Class Rules, nor are we interested in seeking special authorizations from the Technical Committee. The present and the future is carbon fiber. This will be a major transition for the Class, much like the shift from wooden hulls to fiberglass ones.’

The face of the event? None other than three-time F1 World Champion Max Verstappen, who will serve as the official testimonial. Rumor has it Max is already practicing his “roll tack” to ensure he doesn’t let the trophy slip through his fingers.

Forget Traditional Racing: Enter the “Circuit”

Under the direction of Helmut Marko, the racing format has been completely overhauled to eliminate “boring” tactical battles. Expect:

  • Grid Starts: Based on qualifying times, not a line.
  • Sprint & Circuit Races: Featuring literal chicanes between marks.
  • Le Mans Starts: Skippers must sprint down the beach and jump into their boats.

The “Extreme Triathlon” Finale

The final day features a format that would make even the most seasoned sailor tremble. To earn the right to start the final race, the teams must complete the Arco Extreme Prologue:

  1. The Wingsuit Jump: The crews will perform a BASE jump in a wingsuit from the world-famous Becco dell’Aquila on Mount Brento.
  2. The Downhill Charge: Simultaneously, the skippesr will navigate a downhill mountain bike through the jagged, vertical trails of the Garda cliffs.
  3. The Sarca Sprint: Once the crews lands, they must hop into a kayak and paddle down the Sarca River, while the skippers finish the leg in a high-speed go-kart.

The first duo to reach the boat park and fully rig their boat gets the “Pole Position” for the final offshore blast.

Side Events

For those not competing, the village in Arco will host extreme go-karting and downhill biking exhibitions, replacing the traditional post-race pasta with pure taurine-infused excitement.
