2002 Open Swedish Championship

Motala, Sweden

With 37 boats from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark participating, it was a truly terrific regatta. the winds varied from 10-14 m/s during day 1 and 2 and only 3-5 m/w during day 3.

The winning team was Bjorn Forslund and Hilde Trettenes (NOR30026) from Norway. They sailed their new Skipper Snipe (grey deck/ yellow bottom in photos). Just one month before the Open Swedish Championship, they won the Norwegian Championship, and they are now setting their sites at winning the Europeans!

Second in the regatta was Birger Jansen and Cecilia De Faire (NOR29940). The best Swedish team was Gustaf Svensson and Lennart Ljunggren (SWE29353). Another great performance came from Jeanette Krefting and Karianne Eikeland from Norway (NOR30046), the 2000 Women's World Champions. They sailed a new Skipper Snipe as well (rose and grey in photos), and finished 8th. - Tommy Svensson
