US Master Nationals
Perry Lake, KS, USA, October 3, 2022. Report by Art Rousmaniere
The largest US district hosted 24 teams for the 2022 Snipe US Masters on Perry Lake, Kansas – the virtual center of the continental US where American football, steaks and states are huge.
The sailors were treated by un-late-seasonably warm cloudless skies all weekend and challenged by the shifty 5-12 knot breezes over the two days and 5 races. Regatta co-chairs Mary Buckley and returning-to-Snipes Doug Day stirred up so much interest in the regatta that the two skippers from the host Perry YC (previously a Snipe-less club) joined the class and bought a Snipe because of the regatta.
Keeping with the tradition of especially emphasizing “Serious Fun”, the social committee volunteers out-did themselves with keeping the sailors fed and hydrated.
I already miss it.
Final results 5 races:
- Art Rousmaniere & Jennifer Rousmaniere, 8
- Andrew Klein & Taylon Starr, 12
- Amanda Kremer & Ryan Schubert, 23
- Steve Tautz & Ashley Hagan, 25
- Donald Hackbarth & Amy Jones, 26
