Yesterday I managed to get out and helm a Snipe at the Bloody Mary. It was a hectic and tiring day with the windy varying massively in strength and direction. I sailed with Ellie, another junior crew and we were fairly happy with our final result of 153rd – we started a minute late and it was only the 2nd time I have properly helmed a snipe. Big thanks to everyone that volunteered, the organisers and Andy for lending us his boat .

In the week leading up to the Bloody Mary, some forecasts were showing 35knots and increasing, luckily for us, by race day, that had changed to 20-25knots, but the conditions were very gusty (for a sea sailor anyway), and by the end of the 2 hours I was definitely starting to ache. This race was really good practice for me getting used to being back at the front of the boat, and I really felt an improvement by the end of the day, especially in my tacks and sail trimming.
