From the Commodore

Dear SCIRA National Secretaries,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying time on the water.

I am writing to you with care and openness regarding an adjustment to SCIRA membership dues that will take effect in 2026.

We understand that any increase, regardless of size, deserves a clear explanation and thoughtful consideration, and we want to approach this with complete transparency and respect for every member of our Class.

For many years, SCIRA has worked hard to keep dues stable while continuing to support championships, class administration, communication, youth development, and the overall promotion of the Snipe Class worldwide. During this time, operational and administrative costs have steadily increased, while dues have remained unchanged.

After careful review and with a long-term view of the health of our Class, the Board has determined that a modest dues adjustment for 2026 is necessary. This decision was not made lightly. It reflects our responsibility to ensure that SCIRA remains financially stable, well-organized, and able to serve sailors of all generations—today and in the future. Also, it will make possible to develop the projects that the Board has for this year 2026 like youth, women and mixed categories promotion, emerging countries and help those countries that have seen a decline in number of boats in recent years.

With those goals in mind, the Board has set the new fees, that will apply from January 15th, as follows:

• Member – $18
• Junior Member – $13
• Boat – $13
• Fleet – $8

We are deeply grateful for your continued support, commitment, and passion for the Snipe Class. Membership is the foundation of everything we do, and we remain fully committed to managing resources responsibly, keeping costs under control, and always acting in the best interest of our sailors and fleets around the world.
