Objective :          To have a standard schedule for the regatta

                       To guarantee an event where social agenda has its place

                       To try to avoid extreme schedules of many races together

                   To give more time to relocated teams for registration in stage 3 of the process

                       To guarantee rental boats giving the host double entry quota but not allowing to have relocated spots

Five qualified teams from each county in the Western Hemisphere in good standing with SCIRA. The host country will have the right to entry ten teams, but will have not access to any aditional entrys in the relocation system. Host country must finish his qualifiyng process to the event before the start of the initial registration period.

1. Preference including the national champion and runner-up for the current year. All competing skippers and crews must be members in good standing with fleet, country and Association

  1. 2.All skippers must be citizens or bona fide residents for at least one year, of the countries they represent.
  2. 3.Each skipper must present credentials signed by his National Secretary attesting that skipper is the entrant.
  3. 4.The current top 3 skippers of the previous event champion automatically qualifies for entry to defend its title. The champion’s Their participation is accretive to its country’s other entries. This entrys should not be considered under the 50 teams limit when calculating the relocation spots.
  4. 5.The current top 3 skippers at the World Championship (providing it represents a WH&O nation) automatically qualifies. The champion’s theirparticipation is accretive to its country’s other entries This entrys should not be considered under the 50 teams limit when calculating the relocation spots.
  5. 6.The two prior years North American, Southamerican and Orient (providing each represents a Western Hemisphere and Orient nation), and current year South American champions automatically qualify. Each champion’s participation is accretive to its country’s other entries. This entrys should not be considered under the 50 teams limit when calculating the relocation spots.
  6. 7.One current year, top junior qualifier each from: South American, North American, & Orient regions. These qualifiers’ entries are accretive to their countries’ entries. This entrys should not be considered under the 50 teams limit when calculating the relocation spots.
  7. 8.The two prior year One current year, top woman mixed qualifier each from: Orient, South America & North America, & prior year top woman qualifier from the Orient regions. These qualifiers’ entries are accretive to their countries’ entries. This entrys should not be considered under the 50 teams limit when calculating the relocation spots.

  10. 11.The number of slots available for reallocation will be the difference between the fleet limit of 50 and the number of entrants registered during the initial registration period (without counting the entrys detailed in 4,5,6,7 and8). A country, which fills its country allotment of 5 entrants, may submit additional reallocated entrants based on its percentage of the fleet of “qualified entrants” of the total of entrants from the countries which filled their initial allotments.

    4. d.Those countries which are eligible for additional entries will then have 2 weeks from the time of the posting until six weeks prior to the Official start of the Championship to register additional entries.
    5. e.Any unfilled reallocated entry slot not registered after this 2 weeks period six weeks prior to the regatta shall lose that slot which will then be made available on a ‘first come’ basis, with priority during the first 2 weeks only to those countries which were unable to fill their original allotments

 

  1. 1.The quantity of reallocated entries for each country will be rounded to the nearest whole number (e.g., 4.2 = 4 entries; 4.7 = 5 entries). However, no country eligible to receive reallocated entry shall have a fraction rounded down to less than one additional entry.
  2. 2.The total number of entries available, for reallocation, upon conclusion of the initial registration period equals 50 less the number of registrants.
  3. 3.Each country will receive additional entries based upon its percentage of registered entrants of the fleet from countries which filled their initial allotments.
  4. 4.Those countries which are eligible for additional entries will then have from the time of the posting until six weeks prior to the Official start of the Championship to register additional entries.
  5. 5.Any unfilled reallocated entry slot not registered six weeks prior to the regatta shall lose that slot which will then be made available on a ‘first come’ basis only to those countries which were unable to fill their original allotments
  6. 6.The sum of qualified and reallocated entrants shall constitute the fleet of “total entrants”.

 

 

Regatta conditions

 

“Rules for Conducting National and International Regattas” are specific instructions furnished by the International Rules Committee and approved by the SCIRA Board of Governors. These instructions shall be followed in all respects.

  1. 1.Nine or eleven races should be schedulled, depending on local conditions, of using any of the official SCIRA courses published in the current Rulebook or SCIRA official web site (www.snipe.org). Races shall be managed to last approximately 60-75 minutes. A different time used to complete the race will not be grounds for protest.

2.    The fastest schedule approved is as follows:

  1. o·First day , second, and third days – 3 races.
  2. o·Second day – 2 races
  3. o·Third day – spare day
  4. o·Fourth day – 2 races
  5. o·Fifth day – 0 2 races

On second and fourth day, 3 races may be started only to recover abandoned races in previous days.

The spare day will not be used to race if at least 4 races were finished at the end of day 2

3 races can be held on day 5 only if 4 or less races were finished at the end of day 4
