2026 Snipe Class Decals: Continuing a Colorful Tradition

Decals are far more than just administrative stickers; they are a vibrant part of the Snipe Class history. For many sailors, these small markers are badges of honor—items to be collected or proudly displayed on the starboard side of their boats as a testament to seasons spent on the water.

As we move into the 2026 season, the fleet continues to celebrate this unique visual heritage.

The Rules of the Game

The presence of a decal isn’t just about aesthetics; it is a fundamental requirement for racing. According to the Snipe Class Constitution, the decal serves as the visible proof of a boat’s eligibility and standing:

  • Section 5 (Eligibility): Membership is open to those sailing Snipes that are properly measured and registered, displaying the decal of the current year.
  • Section 19 (Dues): Registration is officially reflected by the current decal, which must be displayed on the aft starboard side. Owners must ensure dues are paid within thirty days of the start of their local Fleet’s racing season.

From the Spanish Colors to 2026

By long-standing tradition, the Commodore has the privilege of choosing the color scheme for the decal. Often, this choice pays homage to the Commodore’s national heritage.

For the 2025 season, Commodore Martin Bermudez de la Puente Gallego (ESP) followed this proud tradition by choosing red and yellow, the iconic colors of the Spanish national flag. These bright decals have been a distinctive sight on Snipe hulls worldwide over the past year.

Now, as we look toward 2026, the class awaits to see which colors will define the new year. Whether the choice is based on national pride or personal preference, the 2026 decal will soon take its place on the starboard side of the international fleet.
