Boston A/B Regatta  Image

Winthrop, MA, June 15, 2025. The fourth annual Boston A/B Regatta was a great success, drawing old and new Snipe sailors alike. The race committee efficiently managed to run nine races for each division over the course of two days.

Saturday marked the record-setting 13th consecutive rainy Saturday in the Boston area. Despite the morning drizzle, the race committee was able to complete five races in each division. After racing, competitors enjoyed dinner and candlepin bowling at Cottage Park Yacht club.

On Sunday, the sun finally made an appearance. Four additional races were completed in each division. Throughout the weekend, both days featured puffy winds between 8–10 knots and flat water, providing excellent sailing conditions.

The winning team was “Old and in the Way”, with A Division sailors Bob Adam and Stephanie Adam. In B Division, Ted Keenan and Katherine Jankowski sailed on Saturday, with Arthur Blodgett and Darby Capellin taking over on Sunday.

A Division low-point winners were Michelle Lahrkamp and Alison Keenan and William Kulas and Grant Schmidt who topped the B Division standings.

This regatta was especially focused on encouraging new participation in the class, and it was a great success in that regard — nearly 20% of the competitors were sailing in their first Snipe regatta! Additionally, over half of the competitors were under 30.

Thank you to Cottage Park Yacht Club for hosting, Race Committee lead by Sue Hardee, and all fleet members who lent their boats.

Alison Keenan
