The big surprise of the Trofeo Armada Espanola was the fourth place of a wooden Snipe (Hull Number 12000), built by Lineburger in 1959 for the Snipe Worlds in Porto Alegre.

This boat won the 1959 Worlds with the legendary skipper Paul Elvstrom (Denmark).

In Santiago de la Ribera Mariano Arroyo e Agustin Zabalua sailed a very consistent regatta (8-8-10) both in light and strong winds, finishing tied with the third boat. An amazing results for a 65 year old Snipe, of course with great sailors onboard.

Mariano restored this boat in 2019, after he moved from Argentina to Valencia, Spain.

On the original SnipeToday we published two interesting articles about this boat and about the famous Lineburger 12000 series.
