Twenty-nine teams teams were on the starting line, representing more or less all the areas where the Snipe Class is popular in Italy, but mostly boats of Fleet Romagna.

The races, always hard fought and with constant exchanges of position, were held mainly with wind from the north, light and unstable, while the race course was crossed by strong current.

DSCN3673

On Saturday the first two races were won by Giampiero Poggi and Eugenia Vanni, and the third by Antonio Bari and his son Alessandro.

On Sunday both of the two races were won by Pietro Fantoni and Marinella Gorgatto.

The competition was very tough for the top positions. Poggi & Vanni and Michel & Longhi concluded tied with the same points. The tie break was resolved in favor of the team from Rome for the greatest number of firsts, although the team from Trieste was very consistent, getting three second places and a third. Fantoni & Gorgatto, who discarded a fourth, were third with only one point more than the first two teams.

Other teams have shown excellent spurts. Antonio and Alessandro Bari, in addition to winning a race, finished second in another one.The teams of Paolo Lambertenghi & Silvia Pederiva, Andrea Zaoli & Davide Ortelli, and Dario Bruni & Carlo Collotta all sailed well.

Good work by the Race Committee, which handled the capricious winds well. The last race on Saturday was short, but there was concern that the wind would die. Marzia Mignani was present at the prize giving to give the trophy named after her father Manlio to the winners.
