Who is the next Commodore?

Martín Bermúdez de la Puente Gallego was born in Santiago de Compostela, July 6th, 1980.
He started Sailing at the age of 6 at his father’s racing cruiser. His father, Martín Bermúdez de la Puente González del Valle, is also a well known Snipe sailor. Martin developed his training in the Optimist and Cadet classes before finally moving on to the Snipe class, in which he alternated bow and helm with his father until he got his own fist Snipe (number 26170). He was a member of fleets 281 (Club de Mar de Villagarcia) and 214 (Real Club de Regatas de Galicia) before moving to Madrid and joining Fleet 529 (Real Club Náutico de Madrid).
As a sailor he has won countless trophies and championships, including the 2005 (Cope de Espana) Spanish Cup, the 2019 Iberian Championship and the 2021 South European Championship. He was voted Snipe Sailor of the year by the readers of SnipeToday in 2021.
He was National Secretary of Spain between 2015 and 2018. In 2016 he was elected European General Secretary for the 2017-18 term, a position to which he was re-elected in 2018 for the 2019-20 period. In 2020 he was appointed SCIRA Secretary for the 2021-22 term, and in 2022 Vice Commodore for the years 2023 and 2024. He has now been named Commodore for the 2025-26 term
Martin becomes the third Spaniard to reach the position of highest authority of the SCIRA, after Angel Riveras(1970) and Arturo Delgado (1982).
