Snipe New England Championship, day 1
Beverly, July 13, 2013. A forecast of light wind and an overcast morning couldn't crush the spirits of the 25 eager Snipe teams, representing roughly 5 fleets spanning North America from Florida all the way to Canada. The Snipe New England Championship fleet sailed approximately two miles out to race 5 races in 5-9 knots of wind. The champions of the day were Peter Commette and Jensen McTighe, closely follwed by Jim Bowers/Julia Marsh. But never fear! The traditional haddock dinner was a great success, supplemented by pizza for the non-fish eaters and also followed by a raffle. Tomorrow’s prizes include Snipe parts and pieces donated by some of the many sponsors:
