While the seas and most of the lakes in Finland are just released from the ice cover, the snipe activity has already been high. Series of four Snipe Clinics was just finished last week. Three hour evening sessions in January, March and April were aimed for beginners and pros. The clinics covered a wide range of topics from rules to rig set-up and from physical training to tactics.

The Clinics were also broadcasted live video over the internet, making it possible for Snipe sailors around the country to join.

In addition to the evening sessions, a Saturday seminar was run in March by 2015 Finnish Snipe Champion, Ville Aalto-Setälä. His speed clinic summarized various practical aspects of how to make you fast with your Snipe. Many thanks for Ville for sharing his secrets and making it much harder for him to win the Championship this year.

Snipe Clinics during the off-season have proven to be a powerful way of keeping the snipe community active and together over the winter. We can also recommend sharing the sessions over internet as an easy to arrange way to share the opportunity to join. Presentations were also made available in snipe.fi afterwards.

This week the sun is shining and you start to see some Snipes out again after a dark an cold winter.
