Electronic Devices Allowed for another Test at the Don Q in Miami

Following the test at the Bacardi Invitational, the Don Q Rum Regatta 2025 will also permit the use of the Vakaros devices under specific test conditions.

According to amendments to the Sailing Instructions, competitors can utilize the device, but it appears to be permitted to record data but not to use functions that will improve performance (start line distances, laylines, etc.).

It must be clear that the use of electronic devices other than those specified in the Class Rules (C.5.1a) is not permitted unless:

• The device is available for rent by all competitors who do not own one;
• Approval will be granted by the Technical Committee on a case-by-case basis;
• Precedence will be given to International Championships with a large number of competitors;
• Formally requested by the OA or NS as a TEST only;
• The use of the device is specified in the NoR;
• What functions will be activated.

I will be personally attending the Don Q Rum Regatta 2025. I look forward to observing the use of the Vakaros Atlas 2 firsthand and sharing my own impressions – both the potential benefits and any drawbacks.
