Arbor Day and the First Fiberglass (not Wood) Sailboat

In the United States and other countries, Arbor Day (celebrated the last Friday in April) encourages people to plant and care for trees. To celebrate Arbor Day, Annapolis Performance Sailing posted info about the first fiberglass (not wood!) sailboat…likely it was a SNIPE!

To celebrate Arbor Day we would like to highlight an event that took place 70 years ago this year: the building of the first fiberglass sailboat Ray Greene in Toledo, OH… After building his new glass Snipe, Greene went on to mass produce a small keel boat aptly named the “New Horizons”. Soon the Pearson Triton hit the market…trees everywhere celebrated.
