A large proportion of our SCIRA members are club sailors. They pay their membership but rarely make use of the many benefits the class has to offer when competing beyond National level. It may seem trivial and insignificant to some, but by receiving their decal (a small sticker for their boat), they feel they are part of the bigger picture, part of the bigger Snipe family. They can show their continued dedication to the class each time they go sailing, just by the long line of decals stretching out along the hull. Posting out a sticker to these valued members, the backbone of our class, should be continued even at a cost. It is a very important part of Snipe history which makes the class stand out from others. Please, let’s keep this tradition going.

I agree with Sue. This is a great tradition. I also think that the class will lose membership at the local level. If someone only sails at the local level they may not pay their fees if there is no obvious way to tell if they are a member or not. Peer pressure can work for the class.
