Once a Snipe, Now a Table

Hal Gilreath explains the photo: Here’s a practical use for an old Snipe. This is the back deck of hull #12345. It’s the boat my dad built and wrote the book ‘Building a Plywood Snipe’. The book remains available for hobbyists and the Snipe Class still sells copies.

I picked up #12345, Texan IV, from Pat Crowe in Chattanooga, TN. The boat had significant rot which halted my plans to restore it for sailing, so now we use it daily as a table and magazine holder. I continue to register Texan IV with the class and use the sail number at Snipe regattas.
