In the same photograph, in the background to the left is the church Jesus de Miramar. Also, in the background and to the right, is beleived by Gonzalo to be (the beach) La Playa de Marianao. According to Gonzalo the photo was taken between 1953 and 1956. The approximate years of the photograph are based primarily on his crew(s) during that period. If one looks closely, eye glasses can be seen just left of the jib leech and under the boom. Gonzalo believes this to be Arturo, who crewed for him during that period. After then, between 1957 and 1960 his brother Saul crewed for him. When Saul could not make it, his cousin [Segundo] would crew for him. ...

According to Gonzalo, Jupiter was made by Gerber [Boat Works] in City Island, New York. Gonzalo’s father bought it for him in 1952

Gonzalo Diaz Sr.: “Augie was 11 or 12 years old. The date 1969 in the picture is wrong. Since l968 Augie had his own Chubasco 18111 in which we won the 1969 Midwinters (I was crewing for Augie).”
