Message from the Commodore
Madrid, January 1, 2025
Dear Snipe Class friends,
It is an honour for me to address you as the new Commodore of our Class.
First and foremost, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to the team who made up the former Board of Governors, for the work they have carried out, their commitment and the trust they have placed in me to lead our Class during the upcoming years.
These two years will undoubtedly be ones of hard work during which, not only do we intend to maintain the present volume of activity of our fleets, but also aim to inspire and engage young sailors to join our Class as well as enlarging fleets currently smaller in number. Our most notable priorities in the years to come are the following:
- The furthering of our fleets
- Communication and presence in social media
- Transparency and clarity towards all Class members
- Representation in World Sailing.
The above require processes which are oftentimes long. I am positive, nevertheless, that we will succeed in carrying them out, with the invaluable help from the team that comprises the current Board of Governors, to whom I am hugely grateful for joining me in this adventure.
I hope to also count on your collaboration in this new chapter; I urge all those who wish to make proposals or modifications to the Class, to do so within the established time frames and through the corresponding channels. I am aware these procedures are frequently and frustratingly much too long – this is due to the need for approval from World Sailing and at times the donor of the trophy, after having been reviewed by the board.
You have my commitment that I shall do everything in my power to make our Class progress and evolve. I hope to count on yours as well to perform beneficial and constructive work in the general interest of the Snipe Class on all levels.
I remain at your complete disposal. Warm regards,
Martín Bermúdez de la Puente Gallego
Snipe Class Commodore
