National Seven Universities – Nanadaisen
Fukuoka, Japan, July 20, 2026
Fukuoka, Japan, July 20, 2026. The Snipe Class event at the 65th National Seven Universities Comprehensive Athletic Meeting (Nanadaisen) was held from July 18 to 20 at Fukuoka City Yacht Harbor, bringing together approximately 350 collegiate sailors representing seven major universities across Japan.
Pre-race activities on July 18 included the standard chartered boat draw, practice races, the traditional Alumni Race (Shichikai Cup), and a joint welcome reception. Official racing took place on July 19 and 20 under light to moderate northerly sea breezes ranging from 6 to 10 knots. A total of five races were completed for the Snipe fleet. The event utilized the Umpired Fleet Racing system, providing immediate on-water rulings and eliminating post-race hearings on shore.
Kyoto University secured overall victory in the Snipe Class, tying on points with Kyushu University (28.0 pts) and winning on tie-breaker criteria. This result contributed to Kyoto University’s overall sweep across all categories, marking their first complete victory at Nanadaisen in 30 years.
