Georgia State Championship
Lake Park, GA, USA, March 1, 2026
Lake Park, GA, USA, March 1, 2026. The 2026 Georgia State Snipe Championship was held onFebruary 28 and March 1, 2026, at the Valdosta Yacht Club in Lake Park, GA.
It was hosted by Fleet 580 and the members of the Valdosta Yacht Club. Unfortunately, only 5 boats competed: 3 out-of-towners and 2 locals.
Fortunately, the weather was much better this year than it had been last year. Worried about Sunday’s weather the last few years, PRO Pat Lambert managed to get in 4 races Saturday afternoon. The weather was warm, 70-75o, but the water was not. Again, fortunately, no racers had to test the coldness of the water. All managed to stay upright in the light to moderate winds each day.
Early Sunday morning was very foggy. So foggy that at 8AM you couldn’t see the end of the dock from the clubhouse, but by race time, it was possible to see that there really were houses on the lakeside. The fifth race was briefly postponed, but racing began about 15 minutes later than originally posted. Again, all boats remained upright for that final race. As you can see in the picture above, the weather was warm again. Notice all the shorts. The two girls holding the trophy water jugs were crewing for their dads, so they earned those jugs.
Race results listed below are based on the 5 results from all races Saturday and Sunday.
