The Women’s Nationals was part of the AYC Open hosting Thistle, Flyer and Laser sailors, as well as the 10 women’s teams. As a result the social activities on land were great, especially the conversation around the fire pit. With 5 races and 4 starts per race the Race Committee Team did an outstanding job.
The team of Tarasa Davis and Kim Calnan sailed an outstanding regatta (1,4,1,2,1) to take first place. The next 3 boats battled it out for 2nd-4 th. Anna Lee Bradley and Kate Hodges Rose finally edged out by 1 point the teams of Kristen and Jeanne Herman and Bridget Wiatrowski/Jessica Claflin, with the Herman sisters winning 3rd on the tie breaker (1st in race 4).
The Top Master Team (Skipper 55+) was won by Amanda Hodges and Jeanette Taylor (AYC Y Flyer sailors) and the Top All Junior Team was the Spearman twins (Born in 2002), Lucy and Ellie, who just traded their Optis for a Snipe. These 2 gals are tough, as they weigh combined about 180 lbs.
The 10 teams had a great time on and off the water and several are looking forward to returning in the fall for the US Snipe Masters Nationals and Halloween regattas.
