Georgia State Championship
Lake Park, GA, USA, March 20, 2022
The 2022 Georgia State Snipe Championship was held onMarch 19 & 20, 2022, at the Valdosta Yacht Club in Lake Park, GA. It was hosted by Fleet 580 and the members of the Valdosta Yacht Club. The 9 boats that comprised the field came from Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. The weather on Saturday was predicted to be stormy, but the afternoon turned out mild and sunny with winds in the 7-8 mph range. Three races were completed with no injuries or spills before the storms finally arrived. Sunday morning was clear and very windy. The first race began at 10:00. By about 10:15 we had our first dunking, followed about 10 minutes later by the second one just before they crossed the finished line. No one was hurt, but neither boat returned for the second race of the day. Winds had died down some for that last race, so we had no more swimmers.
Race results listed below are based on the 5 results from all races Saturday and Sunday.
