Thirteen snipes were on the starting line on lake Allatoona for the annual Atlanta Yacht Club Open on 4/27-4/28.
One day of racing saw three solid races, two Olympic courses and a windward leeward. Winds were coming out of the ESE at 10-12. Flat water with easy to spot puffs rolling down the lake all day, made for a wonderful day of sailing.
Don Hackbarth and Amy Benner won the pin on the first start, port tacked the fleet and went on to win the first race.
…
Tarasa Davis and her local crew fought to win races two and three, in which the right side of the course paid off.
David Mulhaussen was able to hold off Hackbarth and Chris Stang with crew Bruno Mello to take second in race three, in a very exciting and tight finish.
The Traveling Snipe Fleet made the return trek from NA’s at Lakewood Yacht Club in Houston, TX, in time to race.
After racing on Saturday, sailors got to tour the newly renovated AYC clubhouse and mingle with the Thistle, Y-Flyer and Laser sailors in attendance. The new clubhouse is beautiful. Snipe sailors should make sure to put the AYC Halloween Regatta on their sailing calendars.
A steady soaking rain set in on Saturday night and no races were sailed Sunday. Davis took first with a 3,1,1, and Hackbarth followed in a close second with a 1,2,3. True to class form: serious sailing, serious fun.

Hello, Ms Amy Benner.
I am Yukiko and Don and Marianne's Japanese friend.
I am happy to read a article about your win in Atlanta Yacht Club Open on 4/27-4/28.
Then I can't help smiling to see Don's speach on youtube.
Would you give my e-mail address to Don, please?
I would like to just say hello to them. I don't see them for several years.
Of course, this message doesn't need to be published.
Thanks,
Yukiko Hayakawa
