APRIL FOOLS’ DAY – THIS IS A JOKE

Due to a malfunction of the SCIRA e-mail server, today an additional 1424 Rule Change Proposals were received by the SCIRA office, adding to the 24 already received and posted on the Snipe Class website.

Many of the proposed changes would affect class organization. Here is a random sampling:

  • Abolition of the Board and appointment of two Consuls to run SCIRA (submitted by 5 fleets from Rome)
  • Abolition of the Board and appointment of Abraracourcix, chef du village d’Astérix et Obélix (counterproposal submitted by SCIRA France)
  • Raise the junior maximum age to 39, and lower the master minimum to 40 (abolishing the senior category and events)
  • Create a “Technical Committee for the Parties”, to better organize social events at major championships: this Committee would be composed of a “star” chef, an expert sommelier, a famous DJ, a renowned choreographer, a master of ceremonies, and an influencer with at least 1 million followers (submitted by Fleets from Valencia, Antwerp and new formed fleets “SnipeTonight” and “Snipe_Trash”)

There are also of course many suggestions to improve the boat and sailing experience, including but not limited to:

  • Allow cosmetic carbon side panels anywhere on the hull, with no restrictions (submitted by SCIRA Spain)
  • Add a flying Gennaker to the list of allowed sails (submitted by SCIRA Brazil)
  • Update safety equipment to allow only electronic devices (VHF, GPS, sonar, radar, sailing instruments); absolutely no lifejackets, analog compasses, tow lines, or whistles (submitted by SCIRA USA)

Upon hearing of these additional proposals, the SCIRA Commodore fainted. After a few hours, having recovered from the shock, the Commodore urgently convened the Board to begin a non-stop meeting that is expected to last until May 1, with brief interruptions authorized only for physiological needs.

Snipe class members can comment on the 24 + 1424 proposals, submitted and posted on the website.
