32 teams, with 8 Countries and 3 Continents represented, are registered for the 2024 SWEC, which will take place in Melilla, an autonomous city of Spain, on the coast of North Africa.

The sailors come from Belgium, Brazil, Finland, France, Great Britain, USA (and Italy) and of course Spain.

The Snipe Class continues its long tradition of women’s championships on the national, regional, and world level.  The Snipe Women’s European Championship (SWEC) was established in the 1990s by the Moscow fleet.  After a hiatus, the event was revived in 2019 by the Belgian Snipe Class Association, which was looking to host a major championship on the tiny lake of Galgenweel in the city of Antwerp.  The event is now held every two years, alternating years with the Women’s World Championship.

The regatta schedule is as follows:

  • July 18, hrs 15:00 – Practice race
  • July 19, hrs 11:30 – Warning signal of the first race
  • July 20, hrs 12:00 – Warning signal of the first race of the day
  • July 21, hrs 12:00 – Warning signal of the first race of the day

6 races are scheduled with the discard from the 4th race.

After the last successful editions in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2019 and 2022, who will be the winning team in Melilla?
