Snipe in Costa Rica

by Philip Jarman I would like to tell you a little bit about our efforts here to establish Snipe fleet Nicoya 904. We started  the project (January 18) hoping to achieve the rental of the governmeht parking lot at Caldera the container port on the Pacific. I would like to tell you a little bit about our efforts here to establish Snipe fleet Nicoya 904.

We started  the project (January 18) hoping to achieve the rental of the governmeht parking lot at Caldera the container port on the Pacific. While the bureaucracy ground fine we purchased 2 glass boats  and a 50 year old boat from NY state. Purchased in February, they arrived in June and the work of renovation was begun. At the same time I completed the work on two plywood Snipes that I had begun in 2016. One was just launched Sunday in the picture.

The permits were all completed by November and 4 boats and 6 boat sheds are now ready to sail. We are looking for an instructor family to settle here and teach sailing. We launch with a tractor on a beautiful beach protected by the container port breakwater.
We go under the name Nicoya Sailing Club. We are attempting to federate with several other windsurf  clubs in order to obtain WSailing membership, SCIRA membership, measurement and sail numbers.
Regards
Philip and Mary Belle Jarman
