Eight Bells: Birger Jansen
Birger Jansen passed away today in Oslo.
Birger has always been present in all the main international Snipe regattas. Two months ago he sailed the Europeans in Spain, his last regatta.
He was Snipe European champion in 2000 in Asgarstrand, Master World champion in 2010 in Rio and many times Nowegian champion. Birger was SCIRA Commodore in 2002. He was also an ice hockey player and competed in the Norwegian ice hockey team at the Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo 1972.
Our sympathy to his family and to the Snaroya fleet.

Great bloke and competitor and the type that made you look at yourself and to make you work harder to do what was right and above all be more competitive.
we will miss him and think of him often
