Rule Change Proposal: 23-10 Decorative Deck

According to the Decision Making Process,
- Rules changes can be submitted up to 1st March.
- All proposals will be published on the website.
- The period from March to June will be used for public discussion and also for the Rules Committee recommendations.
- The Board will vote all submission on July.
- The approved changes will be sent to World Sailing (August) for final approval (November).

I desagree. We don't need to update the permitted laminate cloth list frequently. In addition, woven polyester is serving the class well.

I agree with the addition of small parts of carbon fiber in our boats. But I would right a more specific rule saying exactly what is permitted. Example:
1- Mast protection 30cm maximum from the goodeneck
2- Compass and watch supporter
3- Splash board
4- 6 pieces of decorative plates with less than xx cm2 each

The word “decorative” doesn’t exist in the WS vocabulary. A similar wording had already been rejected by WS.
The proposal doesn’t specify any limit, position and fixing (glue, screws, bolts and nuts?) for the carbon surfaces.
The rule will open a door to add carbon everywhere.
