Dear Snipe Family,

Greetings from Moruzzo and Jamestown! Though separated by six time zones, your two SnipeToday editors are united by this quirky boat we sail and our shared wish for fair winds in 2019.

Today marks seven years of SnipeToday.

Here are the stats for 2018:
222 regattas covered
600 articles published
more than 260,000 visitors
660 of you subscribe to our weekly SnipeToday Digest, and 4,500 like the ST Facebook page.

A year ago, we challenged you to do something new with your Snipe sailing.

Personally, we both met that challenge by adding to the list of countries where we’ve attended Snipe regattas.

We also doubled the usual number of SnipeToday editorial meetings: in addition to our annual get together in Miami USA (DonQ), we swapped ideas in person after each day of racing at the Snipe World Masters in Vilamoura, POR. Pietro (a man of many hats) also attended the European Championship (Pori, FIN) as sailor and Commodore and the Western Hemisphere & Orient Championship (Buenos Aires, ARG) as SCIRA rep and Commodore, and Carol won the Women’s Worlds (Newport USA) with supercrew (and assistant ST editor) Kim Couranz.

The end of 2018 marked the addition of Costa Rica to the Snipe family, so we tried to help the fleet sparkplug figure out how to rig a Snipe.

Too many Snipe sailors from around the globe sailed their final race this year, leaving gaping holes in both fleets and hearts. We can only hope these losses will provide inspiration to the rest of us, to sail and laugh with as many members of our international family as possible in the year ahead.

Though the details evolve from one year to the next, our 2011 shared vision remains intact: SnipeToday is a site for ALL Snipe sailors. Buon Natale and Happy New Year, and see you on the water in 2019!
