Winthrop, MA, USA, June 21, 2026. The fifth annual Snipe A/B Regatta was held June 20 and 21 at Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop.

Saturday was blown out, with sustained winds of 18–20 knots and gusts reaching 30 knots. In lieu of sailing, sailors watched segments on tacking, jibing, and mark roundings from the SCIRA USA produced DVD “Tuning and Better Boat Handling”, followed by a tuning clinic led by John MacRae. The evening concluded with a taco bar and candlepin bowling, giving competitors a chance to relax and socialize before racing began.

Sunday brought much more manageable conditions, with northwest winds of 8–12 kts and occasional gusts up to 15 kts, allowing the regatta to get underway. A Division sailed three races before rotating ashore, followed by B Division sailing three races of their own. A Division then returned to the water and completed two additional races. As B Division was preparing to sail its final two races, lightning was observed in the area and the fleet was sent ashore. Fortunately, the tide was high enough that all boats could be hoisted from the water before the pop-up thunderstorms arrived. As B Division was unable to complete its final two races, the last two races sailed by A Division were discarded, resulting in both divisions being scored based on their first three races.

Congratulations to the overall winners, The Jumbo Shuffle A Division: Dan Nickerson and Natalie Danziger and B Division: John Tagliamonte and Devin Hart. Dan Nickerson and Natalie Danziger also earned Low Point honors in A Division, posting an impressive total of just four points across the three scored races. In B Division, Low Point honors went to Hayes Kennedy and Alison Keenan.

During the awards presentation, Fleet 244 also announced plans to establish a perpetual trophy honoring Sue and Ernie Hardy. Both Sue and Ernie have been tremendous supporters of one-design sailing and Snipe racing at Cottage Park Yacht Club. Fleet 244 would not have been revived without their dedication, hard work, and unwavering support, and the fleet is honored to recognize their lasting contributions through this perpetual award.

Thank you to all the competitors, volunteers, race committee members, and supporters who helped make another successful Snipe A/B Regatta possible. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the water next year.
