Club de Mar Almería closed this Sunday the I TAP Qualifier for the 2026 Junior Snipe World Championship, a regatta that brought together 16 crews and served as the first major level test of the season. After two days and six races held, the victory went to the local crew formed by Juan José Fernández Maldonado and Álvaro Rodríguez Sánchez, who dominated the championship clearly.

From the beginning, the Almerian sailors set the pace. Already on the first day, they placed themselves at the front of the classification and, far from speculating, consolidated their leadership with a practically perfect second day. Four partial victories in the last races allowed them to close the championship with five triumphs in six races and a solid advantage over their rivals.

Behind them, the fight for the podium was much tighter. The RCN Valencia crew formed by Martín Fresneda Gázquez and José González Escámez signed a very regular championship, always in the top positions and without making mistakes. That consistency allowed them to secure the final second position, maintaining themselves at all times as the main alternative to the leadership.

The third step went to the brothers Luca and Andre Bruggioni, who starred in one of the stories of the championship. After starting with a disqualification on the first day, they knew how to recover with solid scores in the second, climbing positions until slipping into the final podium.

At the gates of the podium finished the brothers Álvaro and Javier Ballesteros, from the Real Club Náutico de Motril, who also remained in the fight throughout the championship, while Candela Moreno and Rocío Vidal completed the Top 5 with a very consistent performance.

A demanding and complete championship

The regatta was marked by the variety of conditions and by tactical demand, with six races completed and one discard applied that finished adjusting the final classification. There was no lack of penalties, over-the-lines, and withdrawals, a reflection of the intensity with which they competed in each race.

Beyond the results, the Almería TAP leaves good sensations about the level of the Spanish youth fleet, with very competitive teams and a high degree of equality, especially in the middle zone of the classification.

Road to Melilla

With this race, the path to the 2026 Junior Snipe World Championship begins, and Almería has already made it clear that the fight for the spots will be intense. The authority shown by the winners places them as a reference, but the regularity of their pursuers and the reaction capacity of the fleet anticipate an open and very competitive season.

The TAP circuit has only just begun, but the first appointment has already marked the level.

El Club de Mar Almería ha cerrado este domingo el I TAP Clasificatorio para el Mundial Juvenil de Snipe 2026, una regata que ha reunido a 16 tripulaciones y que ha servido como primer gran test de nivel de la temporada. Tras dos jornadas y seis pruebas disputadas, la victoria ha sido para la tripulación local formada por Juan José Fernández Maldonado y Álvaro Rodríguez Sánchez, que han dominado el campeonato con claridad.

Desde el inicio, los regatistas almerienses marcaron el ritmo. Ya en la primera jornada se situaron al frente de la clasificación y, lejos de especular, consolidaron su liderato con una segunda jornada prácticamente perfecta. Cuatro victorias parciales en las últimas mangas les permitieron cerrar el campeonato con cinco triunfos en seis pruebas y una ventaja sólida sobre sus rivales.

Por detrás, la lucha por el podio fue mucho más ajustada. La tripulación del RCN de Valencia formada por Martín Fresneda Gázquez y José González Escámez firmó un campeonato muy regular, siempre en los puestos de cabeza y sin cometer errores. Esa consistencia les permitió asegurar la segunda posición final, manteniéndose en todo momento como la principal alternativa al liderato .

El tercer cajón fue para los hermanos Luca y Andre Bruggioni, que protagonizaron una de las historias del campeonato. Tras comenzar con una descalificación en la primera jornada, supieron rehacerse con parciales sólidos en la segunda, escalando posiciones hasta colarse en el podio final .

A las puertas del podio finalizaron los hermanos Álvaro y Javier Ballesteros, del Real Club Náutico de Motril, que también se mantuvieron en la pelea durante todo el campeonato, mientras que Candela Moreno y Rocío Vidal completaron el Top 5 con una actuación muy consistente .

Un campeonato exigente y completo

La regata ha estado marcada por la variedad de condiciones y por la exigencia táctica, con seis pruebas completadas y un descarte aplicado que terminó de ajustar la clasificación final. No faltaron penalizaciones, fuera de línea y retiradas, reflejo de la intensidad con la que se compitió en cada manga.

Más allá de los resultados, el TAP de Almería deja buenas sensaciones sobre el nivel de la flota juvenil española, con equipos muy competitivos y un alto grado de igualdad, especialmente en la zona media de la clasificación.

Camino a Melilla

Con esta prueba arranca el camino hacia el Mundial Juvenil de Snipe 2026, y Almería ya ha dejado claro que la lucha por las plazas será intensa. La autoridad mostrada por los vencedores les sitúa como una referencia, pero la regularidad de sus perseguidores y la capacidad de reacción de la flota anticipan una temporada abierta y muy competida.

El circuito TAP no ha hecho más que empezar, pero la primera cita ya ha marcado el nivel.
