Missouri Valley Championship
Lake Manawa, Council Bluffs, Iowa, USA, September 14, 2025

Lake Manawa, Council Bluffs, Iowa, USA, September 14, 2025. The 2025 Missouri Valley Snipe Championship brought together a competitive fleet at Lake Manawa this past weekend. Sailors from across the region lined up for two days of tight racing in conditions that showcased the best of September sailing in the Midwest.
Saturday saw strong breezes in the 10–15 knot range with gusts reaching to 20, pushing crews to stay sharp on boat handling and strategy. On Sunday, the wind backed off a notch, with consistent 6–10 knot conditions, making for tactical racing and rewarding those who could find the shifts.
The racing was highly competitive throughout the fleet, with close finishes in every race and constant position changes across the course. After six races, Amanda Kremer with crew Ryan Schubert (Rocky Mountain Fleet 210) emerged as the overall champions, sailing a consistent and commanding series to take first place. Gene Soltero and Laura O’Leary (Dallas Fleet 1) secured second place with solid scores across the board, while Joe Frey and Victor Franco (Lincoln Fleet 567) rounded out the podium in third. A big thank-you goes to the Iowa-Nebraska Sailing Association, Snipe Fleet 309 and all of the Lake Manawa volunteers and race committee for running a smooth event and ensuring great racing. With challenging winds and spirited competition, the Missouri Valley Championship once again lived up to its reputation as a highlight of the fall Snipe calendar. The combination of great conditions and tight competition made this year’s Missouri Valley Championship a strong event for the fall District II Snipe calendar.
