Seventeen boats from Colorado, Texas, Nebraska, and Kansas gathered at Union Reservoir for the Rocky Mountain Snipe Championship, and the weekend delivered a full range of conditions.

Saturday began with light and shifty air that gradually filled in by early afternoon. Race Committee managed the fleets skillfully, getting everyone ashore just before a blast of heavy winds swept across the lake with gusts topping 26+ mph. After a short break on land, sailors returned to the water and completed five competitive races, making the most of the improving breeze.

Despite a bleak forecast for Sunday, Mother Nature surprised us with steady enough wind to allow three more races, bringing the regatta total to eight.

Local sailors filled the leaderboard, securing five of the top six spots:

  1. Cameron Holland & Clifford Lester
  2. Blaine McCleskey, Adrienne McCleskey & Nikki Woeger
  3. Gene Soltero & Victor Franco
  4. Steven Davis & Danielle Wiletsky
  5. Amanda Kremer & Dan White
  6. Fabian Woeger & Ryan Schubert

Fabian Woeger and Victor Franco earned recognition as First Junior Skipper and First Junior Crew.

It was a weekend of camaraderie, challenging conditions, and strong competition—another successful Rocky Mountain Snipe Championship in the books.
