Enrico Michel (ITA)

Enrico started sailing Snipes in 1986. He has won the Italian Snipe Nationals 10 times and participated in numerous World Championships. 

Many of us will know him, not only as a sailor, as the person who founded DB Marine in 2007. When Jan Persson, the Persson Snipe builder, decided to retire and sell his molds Enrico bought them in 2008 and started to build Snipes. In 2009, his wife Daniela Bonini joined the company and the company grew. 

The first success was the when a DB Marine Snipe won the 2009 World Championship. You could find Michel and Daniela at championships, riding their bikes around the boat yard, with charter boats, replacement parts, and repair services available. 

Always looking to improve DB Marine, Michel did continuous research in 2012 and 2013, and developed the DB-R1.  

Whether it is international championships such as the Worlds, the Europeans, the Western Hemisphere and Asian, the Pan American Games or local fleet racing Michel’s boats were always at the top.  

In 2024 Michel decided to retire. His boats will continue to win races, we share miss seeing him riding through the boat yard.
