SNIPE REGATTA AT THE GUELPH COMMUNITY BOAT CLUB

June 10 and 11, 2000

Guelph reservoir is a small lake approximately 45 minutes north west of Oakville, Ontario, where Snipers matched skills in moderate puffy winds.  Two hotly contested races before lunch on Saturday saw lead changes due to the wind conditions, and three races in the afternoon in similar conditions saw Doug Follsetter emerge as the leader followed closely by Dirk Kneulman and Harry Palm.  Upper Canada brewers were the choice of thirsty sailors followed by barbecued steak a great meal.  Entertainment followed with "THE SNIPETONES" jamming with local Snipers Harry Palm and wife Molly, and Oakville's Dirk Kneulman playing a mean harmonica.  Snipe tales abounded around a campfire until the early hours.
Sunday saw lighter winds and two more races with Kneulman showing his expertise to edge out Doug for the regatta win,  just in time for the fun weekend to wrap up before the predicted thunderstorms and rain arrived.

   Final Positions

1 - Dirk Kneulman
2 - Doug Follsetter
