Coronado One Design

June 10 - 11
San Diego

The weather could have been no better. It was a better than a typical nice San Diego weekend with temperatures in the seventies and blue skies. The sailing was great but the conditions were tough. Large velocity changes and windshifts kept everyone on there toes and kept the racing close all the way to the down wind finish. North Sails were going fast and Carol Merriman and I were able to put together a solid series of 1,1,2,4,1. I contribute the consistency to patience and having confidence in the occilating breeze. The wind shifts were large and random so covering while ahead wasn't always the best plan. It was easy to get out of phase and tough to keep it simple.

I would again like to thank the Coronado Yacht Club for hosting the event and making it so much fun. The free evening refreshments were, as always, a hit with the Snipe class. I think the CYC members were begining to worry that we would never leave. The regatta was full of new comers to the Snipe class and I hope the tough competition and conditions didn't scare anyone away.

I am looking for some tuning partners to help prepare for the Nationals. If anyone is ever interested in doing some extra practice please let me know.
