Lisa has been sailing Snipes since 1986, both as skipper and crew. She sailed for Florida State University 1980-1984. In addition to competing in the two previous Women's Worlds in Japan (11th) and Spain (2nd), she has served on the SCIRA Board from 1994-1997 and been the regatta chairman for the 1990 US Nationals. Sailed 3 years in Sabots, 4 years in Collegiate FJ's, and 2 years in Snipes. Placed 4th in the US Womens Nationals at Gull Lake, Michigan in 1998.

Heir to the legacy of the great women sailors from Ohio, the Bacchus sisters, Liz has earned her own reputation as an excellent helmsman and crew. Team Captain of the prestigious St. Mary's College Sailing Team, Liz earned a spot as Honorable Mention on the 1998 Collegiate All-American roster. Other accomplishments include:

Carol Newman Cronin's first Snipe regatta was in Annapolis in 1990, and she has posted a few Midwinter and North American victories as a crew since then. The Women's Worlds will be only her second event as a Snipe skipper, and she's enjoying all the room in the back of the boat! She runs two businesses out of her house, rigging boats in the summer and writing and desktop publishing in the winter.

Jerelyn has been sailing since she was born, but began sailing her own boat at age 7 (Sabot). She began sailing Snipes at 13 and sailed intercollegiately for UCLA as a member of the 1978 ICYRA National Championship team. She competed as crew in the two prevous Women's Worlds in Japan & Spain and was awarded the San Diego Area Yacht Club yachtswoman of the year 1997. She and her husband Sean have 2 boys - Graham 12, Cameron 10. In her "Day Job", she is the SCIRA Executive Director.

Gwen comes from a Snipe family and has been sailing Snipes all of her life. Highlights include sailing in the 1989 Snipe Worlds in Karatsu, Japan and the 1996 North Americans in Nassau, Bahamas where she was the top female competitor.

Monique sails pretty much anything that floats, from IC dinghies as crew to big boats as a trimmer. Her recent Sniping experience has been crewing for Bill Kelley, a newcomer to the class.

Janet grew up racing Flying Scots and Sunfish in the Gulf of Mexico, and has been sailing Snipes for ten years. Her crew experience in other classes includes Sears Cup (2nd), Adams Cup, and Flying Scot Nationals (4th, 2nd and 1st). Her limited steering experience includes a stellar 12th place finish in 1998 US Women’s Nationals.

Pam Kelly from Coconut Grove, Florida sailed in two Optimist World Championships: Italy '82, and Brazil '83. In 1985 she won the National Junior Women's Regatta (Nancy Leiter Clagett Trophy) in Laser Radials. She sailed for Connecticut College from 1986-1987 and for the University of Florida from 1988-1990. Pam placed 10th in the US Europe Dinghy Olympic Trials in 1992. She has been sailing Snipes off and on with her husband Ed Kelly for the past 2 years, and crewed for Augie Diaz in the Snipe Nationals this year where they placed 2nd in the Heinzerling series.

Michele started sailing in the late 70's doing "big boat" offshoreAnnapolis/Ft. Lauderdale deliveries with friends. She was introduced to the Snipe in 1982 when her then boyfriend Charlie sailed up to a spectator boat in Nassau, kicked his crew off the snipe and said, "I want my girlfriend on this boat". Michele and (now husband) Charlie sailed with the Miami fleet until 1995. Now in NC, she misses beautiful Biscayne Bay, but enjoys traveling to many different venues with lots of competion. She and Charlie will be representing the US in their second WH in Enoshima, Japan this Nov. Other Accomplishments:

When I was a freshman , I joined Senzokugakuen (Jcollage yachting club. I have also continued yachting after graduation. Four years ago I entered the 1st women's world championship in Japan, two years ago I received 13th prize in Spain at the 2nd championship. This world be my third time. I would like to keep entering this competition after this time. My real job is a Flutist (playing and teaching). I hope to have a chance to play at the regatta.

They are freshman at Senzokugakuen collage yachting club. The world be their first time sailing in a foreign country. They are looking forward to the pressure of a big race. Mayuko is studying musical education. Kyoko is studying infant education.

Jennifer has sailed Snipes since 1983. Her most recent win was at the 1998 US Womens Nationals, where she topped a tough fleet in difficult conditions. She grew up racing on Long Island Sound and sailed for the University of Rhode Island. Jennifer crewed in the 1986 Western Hemispheres as well as skippered in the first US Womens Nationals in 1997.

Jennifer is currently studiying Interior Design and Historic Preservation at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She leaned how to sail in an Optimist Dinghy in the Junior Program of Southern Yacht Club. She was the 1990 US Junior Women's National Champion, having won the Leiter Cup in Newport, RI. She sailed for the College of Charleston with Molly Alexander as her crew. She received All American Honorable Mention two times.

Molly graduated for the College of Charleston in 1997. She learned how to sail in the Junior Program at the Severn Sailing Association in Annapolis, MD. She sailed for the College of Charleston with Jennifer.

Karen learned to sail racing Snipes in the 1980s. Recently she has been very active in the local Laser fleet and represented the US in the Laser at the Pan American Games in Cuba, where she won a Bronze Medal.

For the past ten years Sandy has sailed and crewed mostly on big boats. Three years ago she and her husband purchased a MUMM 30. She believes One -design is the ONLY way to race. She raced the past two Santa Maria Cups with Karen Long, did foredeck for two years on a J24, and helmed the MUMM 30 "Crime Scene" all of last year. In exchange for sharing the helm with her husband this year she bought a Byte to singlehand. This is her Snipe debut.
