Bermuda Race Week
Hamilton, Bermuda
April 27 - May 5

Well another race week is over. The weather gods cooperated and
rewarded the few hardy snipers who participated with glorious sunshine
and moderate breezes (6-12 kts Mon & Tues and 8-14 on Thurs). Results
were as follows:

1 Stevie Dickinson/Heath Foggo 4-1-2-3-1-1 7.25
2 Bill Welch/Shirley Welch 6-4-3-2-2-2 13
3 Bill Buckles/Rich ? 3-3-7-1-4-5 15.75
4 Kiki Bosch/Robert Blee 1-6-5-5-3-4 17.25
5 Ray Pitman/Nancy Pitman 11-2-1-4-7-8 21.75
6 Chris Hains/Don Hains 2-5-8-7-6-6 26
7 Guy Eldridge/Andrea Seifert 8-8-6-6-5-3 28
8 Pete Ilgenfritz/Greg ? 5-9-4-9-8-7 33
9 Leo Murphy/ Joe Murphy 8-7-9-8-9-9 41

In addition to the consumption of copious quantities of suntan lotion
and other liquids the week was notable for some very good sailing from
those at the front. Congratulations to Stevie who set foot in a Snipe
for the first time in many months on the Monday morning.

Pete and Greg proved that Mueller builds tough boats by taking on a
concrete dock at ramming speed. Result: one chipped dock and
unscratched boat.

Buckles completed an unusual double by backflipping out of his boat
(broken hiking strap) in the last race and having his crew suffer the
same fate as soon as Buckles had scrambled back aboard.

Yours truly also managed to dump his crew overboard as well as to tear
out the centre pedestal moments into the regatta after leading most of
the practice race.

Former Sniper Malcolm Smith progressed his Olympic campaign by handily
winning the Laser class.
