2009 Nordics Print E-mail
The Nordic Snipe Championship regatta was arranged Sept 18-20 by fleet 195 Snarøya (Oslo)  Norway together with host Vestfjordens Seilforening.
6 Swedish boats turned out,  together with only 27 snipes from our local fleet and a few more from far away and near Oslo.
Friday evening saw one looong race in fairly light wind,  somewhat variable.  Saturday the start was delayed 2 hours but as if it was planned: at 1 p.m. a good southerly of 12 + knots  arrived.    Which strengthened as time went on to some 20 knots or more.   3 races,  the final one olympic,  saw plenty of action and much planing,  but only one went swimming.  While some DNS and DNF. The old one of 80 (yours truly)  was happy that there was not a 4th race on Saturday.
Wonderful sunny skies.   Sunday the wind was gone,  clouds and rain arrived,  after an hour waiting it was called a day.
The results are here  Yes,  more or less as the writer expected:   The Grødem brothers did it again,  followed by Ulrik Sandvig/Henrik Grythe, and Birger Jansen/Lise Gehrken.
